Alice Menter at Kohatu + Petros

Kohatu + Petros are now going to showcase a small selected group of contemporary designers that have been carefully chosen for their individuality and fresh designs. We have scoured Fashion Week and Independent Jewellery shows to introduce wearable and intriguing fashion led jewellery. We love it and hope you will too.

The first designer we are showcasing is Alice Menter, we are excited to launch her collection in store and on line this week. Alice Menter has been shortlisted as New UK Designer of the Year by the UK Jewellery Awards, she was also listed as  #1 in 10 things we love in the ultimate glossy Harpers Bazaar.

Alice is a UK designer creating extraordinary and beautiful jewellery.  She is fast becoming recognised for her luxurious, bold designs, and her trademark intricate, timeless pieces with an industrial edge. 

Alice silver and gold plates everyday objects such as nuts, washers, zips and bolts, which she combines with suede, lycra and chain. Individual pieces follow the contours of the body, move fluidly, and come to life when worn.  The combination of contrasting materials used in Alice's designs creates pieces that are bold yet intricate, and industrial whilst still luxurious and feminine.   

 

April in Anticipation of Summer Days

Acne designer Jonny Johansson travelled to Marrakesh where he found the colours of the city influenced his SS12 Collection. Marrakesh is one of those cities where everywhere you look there is a feast for the eyes. We love this combination and were inspired to create a bracelet that you can wear with confidence and ease. The vivid combination of colours on the charm are balanced by the subtle and beautiful smokey agate. This bracelet fits perfectly with our simple elastic bracelets and can be added to create your own unique cuff.

First Year Celebration!

We wanted to express our sincere thanks to you all for supporting us on our first birthday celebration last night. We were spoiled with lovely gifts, heartfelt wishes and cards and can only say it has been a truly wonderful first year. We were also thrilled to hear such positive comments on our new Winter Collection. We look forward to sharing many more collections with you for years to come!

Something to look forward to...

The summer is almost behind us now and hopefully everyone has been reenergised for the coming winter months. We at K+P are excited about the jewel colours seen on the catwalk this winter season at Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Alberta Ferretti to name a few.  It has inspired rich, colourful jewellery in Amethyst, Emeralds and Garnet featured throughout fashion and certainly will feature in our multi stone necklaces, bracelets and earrings...watch this space!

Home House Exclusive Members Evening

 A group of Home House members took a leisurely walk to our beautiful new jewellery boutique.

' Design duo Joanna Salmond and Varney Polydor welcomed us with champagne and canapes whilst we enjoyed trying on a wide range of their pieces. Featuring semi-precious gemstones and Italian gold and silver chains, the collection is unique, stylish and elegant.
Jo and Varney have the benefit of their studio also being on the premises and can create bespoke pieces from an array of colours and sources. A fabulous place for gifts!' says Philippa Jones, Membership Executive at private club Home House

We designed this bespoke Frosted Onyx and Jade bracelet for one of our dapper customers Peter Phan a leading design consultant. It looks great on his wrist and demonstrates his own personal style.

Creative types are not the only ones wearing stone bracelets. Here is the arm of one of our clients that works in the finance industry. He believes it brings his own personality to the more conservative suits worn in the city.

Shoes are art forms and I think it is wonderful that Matches have managed to recognise the craftsmanship that goes into making truly fantastic shoes in this window.

We were very lucky this year to be offered these beautiful hand decorated eggs by Kataryna Zechenta to decorate our Easter window. Kataryna paints these in her spare time and finds the process of designing and producing these delicate art works relaxing. They are truly beautiful and if you have time do swing by the shop to admire.

With the weather starting to warm a little and the days getting longer it seems appropriate to start looking forward to Spring/Summer 2011. The fashion pages are full of block colour and feminine shapes.
