We were spoiled with lovely gifts, heartfelt wishes and cards and can only say it has been a truly wonderful first year. A group of Home House members took a leisurely walk to our beautiful new jewellery boutique.

' Design duo Joanna Salmond and Varney Polydor welcomed us with champagne and canapes whilst we enjoyed trying on a wide range of their pieces. Featuring semi-precious gemstones and Italian gold and silver chains, the collection is unique, stylish and elegant.

We designed this bespoke Frosted Onyx and Jade bracelet for one of our dapper customers Peter Phan a leading design consultant. It looks great on his wrist and demonstrates his own personal style.

The end of last week is a bit of a blur but one thing that will stay in our memories for a long time is finally after many months of planning seeing our name on the facade of the boutique. Denis arrived on a very cold morning and bravely put up his ladder. While many of us would not have been able to stop our hands from shaking due to the cold, he steadily painted our brand onto the empty space above the window.

I think every woman must have a jewellery box. I remember my first box it was pink and when I carefully opened the lid a beautiful pink plastic ballerina turned to a tune I will never forget. I may have moved on from the ballerina box (and plastic beads) but it is always a struggle to find that perfect jewellery box. I have an assortment that is as varied as my jewellery collection.
I love the stories we get from our customers about their jewellery boxes. We spent a lot of time thinking about how we wanted to present our jewellery and after looking far and wide we decided on our grey silk box, handmade like all of our jewellery. As time has passed and little grey boxes have found there way around the world we are thrilled to hear most people continue to keep their Kohatu + Petros jewellery in the box it arrived in.

Peta Mathias was in London last night to launch her book 'Fabulous' first published in New Zealand in 2008. From chapter one on 'Fashion asset management' to chapter ten 'Men: so many men, so few bullets', this book will have you laughing out loud.

We completely agree at Kohatu and Petros, we also believe that a wonderful piece of jewellery can give you that fabulous feeling and help you tell your story. This is what drives us to continue to design new and unique pieces.

Sunshine on a grey London day

Anna Hansen, who has catered for a number of K+P functions, has just opened The Modern Pantry in Clerkenwell. We visited the restaurant when it was a building site. Its conversion from a steel foundry to a light and airy place to meet and eat is dramatic. At the moment there is a cafe but Anna is opening a Pantry/Deli next week and an Upstairs Dining room later in 2008.

We had brunch there today. The ricotta pancakes are to die for and we would go back just to have another serving ! The K+P juniors had the scrambled eggs and bacon followed by their ever favourite hokey pokey ice cream. We all left with smiles on our faces.
